POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University softball team scored in five of its six innings at the plate and advanced to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship round with a 12-7 win over Iona on Friday morning. The Red Foxes have now won 16 straight games and are one win away from repeating as MAAC champions.
 

• Iona opened the scoring in the top of the first on a solo homer from Jada Morales.
• Marist answered in the bottom of the inning. Peyton Pusey doubled and scored on Isabella Manory's RBI double.
• The Red Foxes took the lead with a three-run second. Samantha Rogers doubled to lead off the inning, and McKenna Manley followed with an RBI single. Pusey's RBI groundout and Manory's RBI single extended the lead to 4-1.
• Iona cut the deficit to one with two runs in the third on RBI singles from Julia Fischer and Ava Acker.
• Marist responded immediately in the bottom of the third. Sienna Kunze and Livia Wiltsie hit back-to-back solo home runs, and Pusey's RBI single made it 7-3.
• The Gaels scored two in the fourth to pull within 7-5.
• Marist added a run in the fourth on Rogers' sacrifice fly.
• Iona got within one in the sixth on Morales' two-run homer.
• The Red Foxes answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Wiltsie singled to start the inning, and Manley drove in a run on a fielder's choice before Pusey hit a three-run homer to right field.

• Each of Marist's nine starters recorded at least one hit.
• Pusey finished 4-for-5 with five RBIs, two runs scored, a double, and a home run.
• Manory went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, two walks, and a double.
• Wiltsie was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a home run.
• Kunze went 2-for-4 with a homer and an RBI.
• Manley drove in two runs.
• Anna Sidlowski (10-5) earned the win with 3.1 innings of relief. She allowed two runs on two hits.
• Morales finished 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBIs, and three runs scored for Iona.

• Marist is 36-19.
• Iona is 26-25.

• Marist advances to the MAAC Championship round on Saturday, May 9 against Iona, which defeated Quinnipiac in the elimination bracket final. First pitch is currently scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
• Marist needs one win to secure the MAAC Championship, while its opponent would need to defeat the Red Foxes twice.
