ABILENE, Texas - The Marist baseball team suffered a loss to Abilene Christian on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 23-1. 
 

SUMMARY

Abilene Christian 23, Marist 1.
W: Breck Eichelberger (2-1), L: Erubiel Candelario (2-1)  

• The Wildcats got out to a hot start in the first three innings, scoring each of their eight runs on six home runs
• Marist answered back with an RBI from Gavin Noriega to score Marco Ali for their first run of the day. 
• After coming in relief for Erubiel Candelario in the bottom of the third, freshman John Hacker settled in for the bottom of the fourth, striking out two batters to retire the Wildcats in order. 
• In the bottom of the fifth, the Wildcats were able to add on six runs on five hits, extending their lead to 14-1.
• Abilene Christian went to the bullpen after the fifth inning, but the Red Foxes were unable to record a hit in the final four innings of play.
• The Wildcats offense kept things going in the final three innings, tallying 9 runs while holding the Red Foxes scoreless to come away with the win, 23-1. 

STATS

• Marco Ali and Reece Armitage recorded the only two hits on the day for the Red Foxes.
• The Wildcats scored 23 runs, on 22 hits and 10 home-runs.
• 13 different Wildcats recorded a hit on the afternoon.
• Tanner Tweedt paced the Wildcats offense, going 5-6 on the day with five RBI's and two home runs. 
• Starting pitcher Breck Eichelberger got the win for Abilene Christian, finishing with four strikeouts and allowing just two hits and one run.
