Men's Lacrosse Edged in Season Opener

The Offense was Shut Down in the Second Half

LEWISBURG, Pennsylvania – The Red Foxes fell short of victory, losing to Bucknell 11-9 at Mathewson-Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Summary

The Bison took a lead within the first minute of the game but freshman Jason Intermesoli scored his first career goal on an extra man opportunity to tie the game up. Mitchell Standera's goal gave the Red Foxes a 3-2 lead and even goalie Brian Corrigan got in on the action and scored. Jon Constant snuck a goal in right before the end of the first quarter to give the Red Foxes a 6-3 lead.

The Red Foxes opened up the second quarter with a goal a minute and a half into the second quarter but the Bison defense locked down and went on a 5-0 run that went into the fourth quarter. The Red Foxes struggled to get an offensive groove going in this span with many of their shots landing inches from the goal. Ryan Durkin's goal in the fourth quarter gave the Bison an 8-7 lead and their first lead in the second half.
