Lauren Smith were named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Water Polo Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively, the conference announced on Wednesday.
The awards are the first of the season for each player.
Doerfler finished with four goals on 11 shots, four points, a .364 shooting percentage and three drawn kick outs in three games at the Rainbow Invite last weekend. She had two goals on three shots vs #6 Hawaii, one goal on four shots and one drawn kick out vs #22 Loyola Marymount and one goal on four shots vs #4 Cal.Â
In her first three collegiate games, Smith finished with three goals, four points, four shots, a .750 shooting percentage, two drawn kick outs, one assist and one steal at the Rainbow Invite last weekend. She had two goals on two shots in her first career game vs #22 Loyola Marymount, had one goal on one shot and one steal vs #4 Cal and had one shot and one assist vs #6 Hawaii.
The Red Foxes head to Ann Arbor, MI for the Michigan Invite this weekend where they will face off against #3 UCLA (Sat noon), #14 Hartwick College (Sat 5:15 PM) and #8 University of Michigan (Sunday 11:30 AM).
