ST. LOUIS - The Marist football team was picked to finish sixth out of 10 teams in the Pioneer Football League (PFL) Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released by the league on Monday. The Red Foxes, who are headed into their fourth season in the PFL, finished tied for sixth last year at 3-5 in the league and 4-7 overall.
The Red Foxes received 42 points in the poll. Defending PFL co-champion San Diego was picked to finish first with 79 points, with fellow co-champion Drake tabbed for second with 71.
The Preseason All-PFL teams will be released by the league on Tuesday.
The Marist football team will report for preseason camp on Wednesday, Aug. 8. The Red Foxes begin their 2012 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Bryant. They will play the first of their five home games on Saturday, Sept. 8 against Bucknell. Marist is in its fourth season as a member of the PFL, and will open league play on Saturday, Sept. 22 against Davidson, which will be on Alumni Weekend.
