SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Marist men's basketball team was represented with a pair of players on the All-Academic team that released on Friday by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Junior Jesse Martin (Columbia, Md.) and sophomore Jay Bowie (Tampa, Fla.) earned the honors for their success in both the classroom and in athletics.

The duo becomes the 21st and 22nd Red Foxes named to the All-Academic Team since Marist joined the MAAC in 1997-98. This is the first time two Red Foxes were named in the same season since Ryan Schneider and Nick Amicucci were both honored in 2008-09. They are both business administration majors.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a player must achieve at least a 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average and must be of at least sophomore academic standing.

Martin and Bowie are joined on the team by Ryan Olander of Fairfield, Kyle Smyth of Iona, Kevin Laue, Liam McCabe-Moran and Torgrim Sommerfeldt of Manhattan, Eric Williams and Paul Kowalski of Niagara and Kevin Noon of Rider.
