POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Athletics Department released the football team's 2012 schedule on Tuesday. The Red Foxes, who are heading into their fourth year as a member of the Pioneer Football League (PFL), will play five of their 11 contests at Tenney Stadium.
The Red Foxes' season will open on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Bryant in the second meeting all-time between the schools and first since 2008. Marist will begin the home portion of its schedule on Sept. 8 against Bucknell, marking the eighth consecutive year the Red Foxes and Bison will meet. The following Saturday, Marist will travel to Columbia for the Red Foxes' second game against an Ivy League opponent in program history, as the schools previously played each other in 2007.
Marist's final eight games will all be against PFL foes. The Red Foxes' first league game will come on Alumni Weekend, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22 against Davidson. Marist will then travel to Jacksonville the following Saturday.
After a bye on Oct. 6, Butler will make its first trip to Poughkeepsie for a contest on Oct. 13. Marist will close out October with trips to the Midwest in consecutive weeks, as the Red Foxes will take on Drake on Oct. 20, and Valparaiso on Oct. 27.
November begins with a pair of home games. Marist will host San Diego on Saturday, Nov. 3, and will close out its Tenney Stadium slate with its Senior Day contest against Dayton on Saturday, Nov. 10. Marist will close out the 2012 regular season at Campbell the following Saturday.
Game times and ticket information will be released at a later date. The team's spring practice schedule and Spring Game date will be announced in the coming weeks.
