Menís Soccer To Host Saint Peterís On Saturday Night

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist men’s soccer team hosts Saint Peter’s in its third Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) game of the season on Saturday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tenney Stadium. The Red Foxes are currently 0-2 in the MAAC.

Last Time Out: Marist hosted Canisius in its MAAC home opener on Wednesday afternoon. After a scoreless first half in which the Red Foxes outshot the Golden Griffins 7-3, Marist would eventually fall 4-2. Steven Arraiano (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) and Greg Davis (Jamaica, N.Y.) scored one goal each for the Red Foxes. Canisius netted four, including one off a controversial penalty kick call, to earn the 4-2 victory at Tenney Stadium. Goalkeeper Anthony Sokalski (London, Ontario) recorded three saves.

Last Meeting: Marist defeated Saint Peter’s 3-1 in the last meeting between the Red Foxes and Peacocks in 2012. Evan Southworth (Newburgh, N.Y.) and Stephan Brossard scored one goal each in the first half to take a two nil lead. Marist was able to hold on to the lead thanks to a late goal in the 85th minute by Nick Bramall.  Sokalski (London, Ontario) recorded had five saves in the second half to secure the Red Foxes’ victory.

Scouting Saint Peters: Saint Peter’s finished 5-11 overall last year and 3-4 in conference. The Peacocks are currently 2-4-4 overall and 0-0-2 in MAAC play, drawing with Niagara, 2-2 and Rider, 1-1. Marcel Maddee was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week just one week ago when he scored two goals against Niagara. Maddee leads the team with four goals. The Peacocks have not won a road game this season. Goalies Carlos Suarez and David Giddings have started in goal this season for the Peacocks and have 1.21 goals against average.
