EDISON, N.J. - The Marist men's soccer team was chosen to finish fourth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for the 2012 season in the preseason poll that was voted on amongst the conference's 10 head coaches and released on Wednesday. The Red Foxes registered 57 points in the polling, to place behind the defending champions Fairfield (96), Iona (92) and Loyola (82).

Marist came in ahead of Siena (53), Niagara (52), Manhattan (38), Canisius (31), Saint Peter's (27) and Rider (22).

The Red Foxes are coming off a 2011 season in which they earned a berth in the MAAC Semifinals and posted a record of 8-7-5 with eight accompanying shutouts. After the graduation of four-year starters: Krystian Witkowski, Lucas Szabo, Alex George, Troy Confessore and Fred Osborne, Marist welcomes 13 newcomers to the program for 2012.

In the accompanying poll, the Preseason All-MAAC Team, Marist's Stephan Brossard (Port Washington, N.Y.) was recognized. A First Team All-MAAC honoree as a sophomore and junior, Brossard has accumulated 60 points in his first three seasons as a Red Fox, with 23 goals and 14 assists, totals which find him in or near the top 10 in all three categories.

The Red Foxes open their regular season on Friday, August 24 at home versus UC-Riverside.
