The Marist men's and women's lacrosse teams will participate in the inaugural Edward Taylor Coombs Memorial Fall-ball event this weekend, Oct. 20-21, at Hatboro-Horsham High School in Horsham, Pa.

The two-day tournament is in memory of former Marist men's lacrosse player Eddie Coombs, a Hatboro-Horsham graduate, who tragically passed away in August of 2011, just prior to the start of his sophomore year. Admission is $5 for fans ages five and up. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation, which was established by Eddie's family to honor those student-athletes who exemplify the same strong character as Eddie, as well as Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Eddie was a well-respected member of the Marist Community by staff and students.

Teams from all three NCAA Divisions will play over the two days. Division I men's teams that will be there will include Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponent Manhattan as well as Binghamton and Lafayette. The Marist women will compete in the tournament as well, playing against Division I schools that include Wagner and LaSalle.
