POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y - Junior Sarah Carmody (Camarillo, Calif.) of the Marist softball team was named CoSIDA/Capital One First Team All-District as a designated player on Thursday. A Digital Media major, Carmody has appeared in 32 games for Marist this season and driven in eight runs.
Carmody has shown her versatility in 2012 for the Red Foxes as she has made five or more starts as the designated player, catcher and an outfielder. She has started 29 games and is hitting .227 for the year with six doubles and a home run. Carmody has a .306 on-base percentage and a .318 slugging percentage.
This is the second consecutive year that she has been chosen to a CoSIDA/Capital One All-District team, as she was a Second Team honoree as a sophomore in 2011.
Carmody and the Red Foxes are currently 27-22 on the season and have an 8-4 mark in MAAC play. Marist finishes its regular season this weekend with a pair of conference doubleheaders; at Siena on Saturday, May 5 and at Iona on Sunday, May 6. Both twinbills will have postseason implications as the Red Foxes, who are currently tied for second place look to secure a spot in next week's MAAC Tournament.
