BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) honored the 2012 Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving All-Academic Teams late Thursday during the Day 1 Finals of the MAAC Championship. Marist had a total of 15 student-athletes recognized by the conference, with nine women and eight men named to the squad.
To be eligiblie for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
The six selections from the men's team were senior Joe Papiro (Southbury, Conn.), and juniors Tyler Ferraro (Southbury, Conn.), Dan Johnson (Warwick, N.Y.), Stephen Miller (Downington, Pa.), Samuel Nowack (Middletown, Conn.) and Brian Shannon (Baldwin, N.Y.). In the case of Papiro, Ferraro, Johnson, Nowack and Shannon, they all are multi-year honorees.
The nine women named to the squad include: seniors Leanna Brittis (Bluffton, S.C.), Michelle Fountain (Sayville, N.Y.), Allison Kreho (Shelton, Conn and Amanda Letchko (Newton, N.J.), junior Kate Conard (East Setauket, N.Y.) and sophomores Kim Kaller (New Providence, N.J.), Megan Knight (New Braunfels, Texas), Emily Miles (Long Valley, N.J.) and Bonnie Orr (Fresno, Calif.). Brittis, Fountain, Kreho and Conard all have earned this honor in past seasons.
