EDISON, N.J. – The seeds are set for the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship, to be held Oct. 31-Nov. 4 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. The Marist women’s soccer team is seeded in fourth place heading into the tournament. The Red Foxes finished the regular season with a 6-4 record. Marist will play the fifth seed, Rider, in the third quarterfinal round match on Friday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.

The Red Foxes faced the Broncs earlier this month, coming away with a 5-0 victory. Senior Rycke Guiney (Naperville, Ill.) scored three goals and contributed an assist, tallying the first hat trick since 199 and second in program history. Sophomore Jessica Fanelli (Katonah, N.Y.) and freshman Ashlee Burke (East Northport, N.Y.) netted one goal each for Marist.

All 11 teams in the MAAC will participate in the 2013 women’s soccer championship, a single-elimination tournament, with the top five seeds receiving an opening round bye. In addition to top-seeded Monmouth, also receiving a first-round bye will be No. 2 seed Fairfield, No. 3 seed Iona, No. 4 seed Marist and No. 5 seed Rider.

The rest of the seeds will have to play on opening day, Thursday, Oct. 31. The opening round begins 11 a.m., when No. 6 seed Siena faces No. 11 Saint Peter’s. The second opening round game, at 12:30 p.m., features No. 7 Quinnipiac vs. No. 10 Manhattan. The third and final opening round match has No. 8 Niagara facing No. 9 Canisius at 2:00 p.m.

Marist has fared well in the tournament the past two years, earning the top seed for both championships. In 2011, the Red Foxes defeated No. 3 Loyola in the finals, 1-0. Junior Amanda Epstein (Jericho, N.Y.) netted the game-winner for Marist and earned the first NCAA Tournament berth in program history. In 2012, after securing the title of co-conference champions, the Red Foxes fell in a closely contested match to No. 3 Loyola, 2-1.
