POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist football team held its final scrimmage of training camp Thursday morning at Tenney Stadium. The team will break camp Friday morning before returning to prepare for its season opener against Bryant.

Four first-quarter drives ended in punts, including one of 64 yards off the foot of senior Jason Myers (Chula Vista, Calif.). Myers later had a 59-yard punt which went out of bounds at the two.

The first score of the contest came in the second quarter, as Myers connected on a 47-yard field goal. The score was set up largely due from a 24-yard pass from fifth-year senior quarterback Tommy Reilly (Marlton, N.J.) to junior wide receiver Armani Martin (Pembroke Pines, Fla.).

Sophomore Louis Cotrone (South Bellmore, N.Y.) blocked a punt later in the second quarter, and Myers tacked on a 22-yard field goal. Sophomore linebacker Michael Paen (Plantation, Fla.) then intercepted a pass near midfield with 6:02 left in the second quarter, which led to the game's first touchdowns two plays later. Junior quarterback Duell Smith (Hilton, N.Y.) aired out a 44-yard completion to sophomore wide receiver Conor Zoch (Mahwah, N.J.), which brought the ball to the three. From there, freshman running back Evan Chase (Bel Air, Md.) powered his way into the end zone, as he shed tackles and lost his helmet crossing the goal line.

The final score came in the third quarter. A 24-yard completion from freshman quarterback Ed Achziger (Dublin, Calif.) to sophomore wide receiver Chris Perugini (Eastchester, N.Y.) brought the ball inside the 10, and Achziger and Perugini connected again on a seven-yard scoring strike two plays later.

The Marist football team will play its season opener at Bryant on Saturday, Sept. 1. The Red Foxes will play the first of their five home games against Bucknell on Saturday, Sept. 8.
