Marist will compete in the MAAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday & Sunday

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Marist men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J.

Here's a look at events to keep an eye on for both the men and women:

MEN

The Red Foxes' top event of the entire meet will probably be Saturday's 3,000-meter steeplechase, in which the Red Foxes have seven of the 11 entrants. The group is led by junior Arquimedes DelaCruz, an IC4A qualifer who is the number one seed. Marist also has five participants in Saturday's 10K, led by fourth seed Joel Moss.

On Sunday, the Red Foxes have a loaded contingent in the 5,000-meter run, including DelaCruz, Moss, Thomas Lipari, Mark Valentino, William Griffin, Ian Dorset and Brian Townsend. Also keep an eye on the school record-setting 400 relay of Michael McCloskey, Tyler Schwarz, Darren Bushey and Jesse Aprile.

WOMEN

On Saturday, the Red Foxes will have several competitors highlighted by Nicole Scicolone in the long jump and third seed Addie DiFrancesco in the 10,000 meters. On Sunday, Marist will have seven runners in the 1,500 meters, led by Christine Coughlin. Scicolone leads a Marist contingent in the 100-meter dash, and Briana Crowe headlines a group of five runners in the 800.

In the 5,000-meter run, Marist has seven of the 23 entrants. Included is freshman Michelle Gaye, who is coming off a win in the 3,000 at the Yale Springtime Invitational.
