Senior TE Anthony Calcagni

SOUTHFIELDS, N.Y. - Senior tight end Anthony Calcagni (Thornwood, N.Y.) of the Marist football team has been named to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Senior Scout Bowl All-American Team. Calcagni was named to the Second Team for the North Offense.

Last season, Calcagni tied for the team high with five touchdowns. He was second in the Red Foxes in both receptions (40) and receiving yards (494). This preseason, Calcagni has also been named to the College Football Performance Awards FCS Preseason Watch List, FCS Preseason All-American by Beyond Sports Network and College Sports Madness, and Preseason All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) by the league's official poll and Phil Steele Publications.

The third annual FCS Senior Scout Bowl will be played on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and is presented by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL).  The CDFL has developed three senior collegiate All-Star Games: the FCS Senior Scout Bowl, D3 Senior Classic and D2 vs. NAIA Senior Showcase.

Marist has had seven participants in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl the prior two seasons. Rory Foley, James LaMacchia, Jim O'Donnell and Terrence Turner participated in the inaugural game in 2010. Last season, Jaquan Bryant, Ryan Dinnebeil and Kevin Fitzpatrick were selected to the contest. Bryant and Fitzpatrick appeared in NFL Rookie Minicamps this spring with the Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills, respectively.

The Marist football team will begin its 2012 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Bryant. The Red Foxes will return home the next week to face Bucknell in its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. Single-game and season tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased at GoRedFoxes.com.
