Senior Jayne Oberdorf (2-1) pitched a complete game with four strikeouts against just two walks. She allowed seven hits. Oberdorf threw 66 of her 100 pitches for strikes. Freshman third baseman Amanda Sartori went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Junior designated player Kourtney Paul was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, and one run scored.
Marist opened the scoring in the top of the second. Junior left fielder Gabrielle Kelliher led off with a single on the first pitch of the inning, and Sartori brought her home with a one-out single. In the fourth, Paul started a two-out rally with a single. She stole second, and then advanced to third on a throwing error. Sartori then brought her home with a single.
An RBI single by center fielder Kaitlyn Schiffhauer in the bottom of the fourth brought Harvard back to within one, but the Red Foxes answered in their next at-bat as a two-out infield single by freshman first baseman Ali Milam brought home sophomore center fielder Casey Page.
Harvard rallied in the seventh as first baseman Jillian Leslie led off with a double, and scored on a wild pitch. The Crimson then put runners on second and third with two outs, but Oberdorf ended the game with a strikeout on a 3-2 pitch.
Marist is now 11-9, and Harvard is 7-6. The Red Foxes are back in action on Friday when they face UConn at 9 p.m. Eastern, and will then face Hawaii at 1 a.m. Eastern on Saturday (7 p.m. Friday in Hawaii).
