POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist baseball team will wrap up the 2017 regular season and celebrate the careers of its four seniors with a three game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series against the Siena Saints at McCann Field on Thursday and Friday.

The Red Foxes and Saints will play a nine inning single game on Thursday (3 PM) and a seven and nine inning doubleheader (12 PM) on Friday. Prior to the first game on Friday, the careers of seniors Tyler Kirkpatrick, Scott Boches, Sean Keenan, John Parisi and Ryan Thomas will be celebrated with a Senior Day Ceremony at 11:40 AM.

With a series sweep over Siena, Marist (27-20, 14-7 MAAC) will clinch at least the #2 seed in the MAAC Championship and will have a first round bye before opening play. If the Red Foxes sweep the Saints and the Fairfield Stags loose one game vs. the Quinnipiac Bobcats, Marist will clinch the 2017 MAAC Regular Season Championship and will enter the tournament as the #1 seed and will also enjoy a bye.


The Red Foxes are coming off their fifth MAAC doubleheader sweep and six conference series win of the season with a 3-1 win in 11 innings in Game 1 and a last inning 3-1 come from behind win in Game 2 on Matt Iantosca's bases clearing RBI single in the top of the seventh down 1-0 with two outs. Marist then fell 5-4 in 10 innings on Monday, after holding a 4-3 lead with two outs and no one on in the bottom of the ninth inning.


Iantosca is coming of a series vs Fairfield in which he got at least one hit in each game to go along with one RBI.

Freshman Patrick Lightner picked up three hits vs the Stags, going 3-for-10 with a double and a run scored.

Sophomore Randy Taveras had two multi-hit games last weekend, going a combined 6-for-12 with a run scored in the three games.


Siena currently stands at 19-26-2 (10-11 MAAC) and are in seventh place in the conference. Joe Drpich leads Siena with a .349 average, 10 home runs, 44 RBI and a .587 slugging percentage. The Saints have scored 243 runs to their opponents 320.

On the mound, the pitching staff is a combined 19-26 with a 6.01 ERA. In 392.2 innings pitched, they have given up 320 runs (262 earned) on 501 hits with 173 walks and 267 strikeouts.

Following the series against Siena, the Red Foxes will travel to Niagara Falls, NY for the 2017 MAAC Championships on Wednesday, May 24th-27th at Sal Maglie Stadium. Marist's seed and playing schedule has yet to be determined.
