POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Red Fox Network’s Marist Minute highlights this past week’s events and provides an upcoming schedule for this week.

Men’s lacrosse exploded for a 16-6 win over Manhattan on Saturday, April 15, in its final road game of the regular season. Junior Mitchell Standera netted a hat-trick, leading a Red Fox offense that saw 11 different players score a goal.

Water polo closed out its regular season Saturday, splitting a doubleheader between VMI and St. Francis Brooklyn. The Red Foxes lost their first game to VMI in a 17-15 nailbiter that ended in double overtime. Later in the day, Marist clinched the no. 2 seed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships with a 14-1 win over St. Francis Brooklyn.

Baseball suffered a 9-2 loss to Stony Brook on Tuesday, April 11 at McCann Field. On Wednesday, April 12, the Red Foxes fell to Hartford, 18-16, in an offensive showcase. Then on Friday, April 14, Marist lost the first game of the series against Monmouth, 7-2, but retaliated with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday, winning 5-4 and 7-1, respectively.

Softball visited Holy Cross on Wednesday and split a doubleheader, losing the first game 9-3 then winning the second game 7-2. Then the Red Foxes were swept by Quinnipiac in a doubleheader on Saturday, losing 5-4 and 3-2 respectively.

Women’s lacrosse lost two tough MAAC contests in Tenney Stadium this week. They lost to first place Canisius, 18-6, on Wednesday, and fell to second place Fairfield, 10-9, in overtime, on Senior Day on Saturday.

Men’s tennis clinched a MAAC Championship berth by winning two conference matches. The Red Foxes defeated Fairfield, 6-1, on Tuesday, shut out Siena, 7-0, on Thursday, April 13. Women’s tennis also clinched a spot in the postseason with a 4-3 victory over Fairfield on Wednesday afternoon.

Men’s and women’s track & field competed at the Bison Outdoor Classic this weekend. With a school record setting performance the men’s 3,200 meter team qualified for the IC4A Championships. In the women’s 400-meter dash junior Danisha Craig won her heat and shattered a 9-year-old school record, posting a 12th place finish of 57.83 seconds.

Men’s and women’s rowing both competed at the Kerr Cup over the weekend. For the women, the Varsity Eight and the Second Varsity Eight reached the Grand Final.
