WEST WINDSOR, New Jersey - The 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Rowing Championships will commence on Friday, May 12, at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, New Jersey. The championship's events will showcase competitors from five MAAC institutions and five associate members.

The Marist women's rowing team finished in second place at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships Sunday morning at Lake Mercer at Mercer County Park, falling just short of the programs 11th conference title and first since 2013.

Jacksonville tallied a total of 56 points to earn its third consecutive MAAC Championship while Marist finished second with 53 points, followed by Drake University (44), Canisius College (43), Fairfield University (40), Robert Morris University (31), Iona College (23), Stetson University (20), Sacred Heart University (14), and Manhattan College (6).

The Red Foxes last title came in 2013 when the Marist Women's Rowing team won the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rowing Championship and earned the conference's first automatic NCAA Championships berth.

The Red Foxes last competed against Colgate, Hamilton, and Ithaca and for their efforts earned MAAC boats of the week for the first and second varsity eights. Marist faced off against Colgate in the morning in both the second varsity and varsity eight while Ithaca and Hamilton faced off. The winners of their duels faced off in the afternoon.

Marist won both the varsity and second varsity eight against Colgate, and Ithaca won both its morning races against Hamilton. This made the afternoon racing to be Marist against Ithaca and Hamilton against Colgate. Ithaca came out on top in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight events.
