POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Red Fox Network's Marist Minute highlights this past week's events and provides an upcoming schedule for this week.

Men's lacrosse hosted the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships this weekend and defeated no. 2 Canisius, 8-5, in the semifinals on Friday, May 5. Senior J.D. Recor broke the all-time MAAC assists record with his 130th at the 4:28 mark of the second quarter. He surpassed the old mark of 129 set by Manhattan's Eugene Tanner in 2005. The Red Foxes fell to top seeded Monmouth, 9-8, in a final that came down to the last few seconds Sunday, May 7. Marist finished the season 10-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Women's lacrosse fell to no. 2 Fairfield, 15-8, in the semifinals of the MAAC Championships on Friday. After competing in the conference semis for the sixth straight year, the Red Foxes ended up 10-9 overall and 5-3 in MAAC play.

Softball played three doubleheaders this past week, winning five of six games to end the 2017 regular season. Marist swept non-conference opponent Lafayette on Wednesday, May 3, in a pair of shutouts. The Red Foxes won Game 1, 9-0, in 5 innings and took Game 2 2-0. On Saturday, May 6, Marist swept MAAC rival Rider with 4-3 and 5-1 victories respectively on Senior Day. On Sunday the Red Foxes lost their first game to Monmouth, 7-6, but returned the favor in Game 2 with a 10-3 win in the regular season finale. Marist earned the no. 3 seed with 13-7 MAAC mark and 35-20 overall record. The Red Foxes will face no. 6 Fairfield in the first round of the MAAC Championships at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10. The postseason tournament will have a double elimination format and tickets are available on the MAAC website.

Baseball defeated Holy Cross, 6-2, in Worcester, MA on Wednesday, then returned home for a MAAC series against Rider over the weekend. The Red Foxes took two against the Broncs on Saturday, prevailing 5-1 in Game 1 and 10-1 in Game 2. Marist's winning streak ended at six with a 3-1 defeat Sunday.

Men's and women's track and field competed in the Vassar Twilight on Friday, then in the MAAC Championships on Saturday and Sunday. For the men, sophomore Palmer Weimann became the third Marist runner this season to qualify for the IC4A Championships. He placed fifth in the 10,000-meter run (31:21.84). The women placed sixth out of 10 teams at the MAAC Championships.
