POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women’s tennis team (8-6, 5-1 MAAC) will host Quinnipiac (10-8, 5-0 MAAC) at 1 p.m. April 22 in the Marist Tennis Pavilion. Prior to the match the program will honor its lone senior captain, Callie Morlock.

Saturday will be the final regular season match of 2017 for the Red Foxes and a rematch of last year’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship final.

Last Time Out

Marist fell to Colgate, 5-2, in a home non-conference clash April 18. Sophomore Ariel Shulman defeated Raiders’ freshman Lauren O’Brien in singles, beating her in straight sets. Shulman and sophomore Chloe Lant, meanwhile, helped Marist steal the doubles point.

Scouting Quinnipiac

The Bobcats had their five-match win streak snapped with a 4-3 loss at Fordham on April 20. Freshman Layla Rodriguez picked up two wins to get to 36 on the year for second most on the team. Senior Sydney Young fell in the rubber match, the no. 3 singles.

Senior Kelsi Oliphant and sophomore Alexandra Mircea took down the Rams’ duo for their ninth straight doubles victory and clinched the doubles point for Quinnipiac.

Looking Ahead

Marist will compete in the MAAC Championships starting April 29 in West Windsor, New Jersey.
