POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - With a victory at Iona on Saturday, April 22, the Marist women’s lacrosse team (7-8, 3-3 MAAC) will clinch a spot in the postseason and compete in the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships.
Opening draw from New Rochelle, New York, is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3. Viewers can watch for free after they log in using the information from their cable provider. Live stats will also be available.

The Red Foxes’ defense held Niagara off the board for 32 minutes and staved off a second half comeback from the Purple Eagles. Senior Abigail Witczak made 13 saves to move into sole possession of third place on the program’s all-time list with 519.
Players To Watch
Sophomore Hailey Wagner picked up seven draw controls at Niagara and is two draw controls away from tying the Marist single season record of 88 set by Jamie Romano in 2014. Wagner is currently tied for 12th in the country and is atop the MAAC averaging 5.73 draw controls per game.
Witczak is first in the nation with 172 saves this year. She is also fourth in the country in saves per game, averaging 11.47.
Scouting The Gaels
Iona (4-11, 1-5 MAAC) has suffered a pair of overtime losses to MAAC opponents and most recently fell to Fairfield, 13-9, on April 19. Junior Pamela Giordano led the Gaels with four goals on six shots in the contest and has netted a team-high 33 goals this season.
Iona is second in the MAAC in ground balls per game (20.20) and third in the conference in caused turnovers per game (9.93).
