POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men’s (14-2, 5-0 MAAC) and women’s (8-5, 5-1 MAAC) tennis teams will host Colgate in a non-conference clash at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 18 at the Marist Tennis Pavilion. The men will also move indoors to play a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match against Saint Peter’s. First serve from Cross Courts Tennis in Wappingers Falls, New York, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. April 19.   

Last Time Out (Men)

The Red Foxes are on a nine-game winning streak heading into today’s contest against the Raiders. Marist blanked Siena, 7-0, on April 12 to clinch a berth in the MAAC Championships. The Red Foxes cruised in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Senior Dylan Fletcher, juniors Rudolf Kurz and Gianlucca Massa, and freshman Christopher Gladden picked up wins in singles and doubles play.   

Last Time Out (Women)

Marist clinched a spot in the MAAC Championships with a 4-3 win at Fairfield on April 12. Marist picked up wins from the first, second, third and fifth positions in singles play to clinch the match before doubles play began. 

Scouting Colgate (Men And Women)

Colgate’s men’s team wrapped up Patriot League play with a 3-2 record after it fell to Boston University to end a five-game win streak on April 16. The men are currently 10-7 overall. Junior Jacob Daugherty was First Team All-Patriot League last year after setting a career high with 32 wins, going 16-5 in singles play and 16-3 in doubles matches.

The Raiders’ women’s squad sits at 7-8 overall and 3-1 in conference competition after it defeated Holy Cross, 7-0, on April 8. Sophomore Lauren Hyland was Second Team All-Patriot League last year and led Colgate with 18 wins. She picked up 10 victories in singles competition and eight in doubles play.    

Scouting Saint Peter’s (Men)

The Saint Peter’s men’s team (1-17, 0-4 MAAC) fell to Hofstra last time out, 7-0. Freshman Ivan Knezevic teamed up with senior Andres-Sebastian Rojas, but the pair fell in the top doubles match 6-2. In singles play Knezevic fought hard against Hofstra sophomore Marcus Smith, but lost 6-2, 6-1 at no. 1 singles.    

Looking Ahead

The Marist men will end their regular season at Monmouth on Saturday, April 22. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. Next up for the women is a home contest against MAAC rival Quinnipiac at 1 p.m. that same day.
