BINGHAMTON, New York – The Marist baseball team has changed its doubleheader at the Binghamton Bearcats originally scheduled for Wednesday at 2 PM to a single game at Binghamton on Tuesday 4 PM due to pending weather conditions in the area on Wednesday.
The Red Foxes currently stand at 17-14 (7-5 MAAC) on the season.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Red Foxes are coming off a two of three game series win at the Monmouth Hawks, sweeping both games of Saturday’s doubleheader by scores of 5-4 and 7-1, after falling in Game 1 on the series 7-2 on Friday. Redshirt junior Greg Kocinski led Marist with five hits, a double, his first home run of the season, four runs scored and five RBI in the three games.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
With a hit in each game at Monmouth, Kocinski now has a six game hitting streak in which he is batting .435 (10-for-23) with one double, one home run, eight runs scored, 11 RBI, a .481 on base percentage and a .609 slugging percentage. He has at least one RBI in eight of his last ten games and leads the team in multi RBI games with five games with two RBI and three games with three RBI. Redshirt freshman Tyler Kapuscinski currently has a 10 game hitting streak which is the longest on the team this season. During the streak he is batting .430 (18-for-41) with three doubles, a triple, five walks, 12 runs scored, three RBI, a .500 on base percentage and a .561 slugging percentage. In addition to the hitting streak, Kapuscinski also has a 13 games on base streak, the most by anyone on the team this season as well.
The Bearcats are currently 16-7 (6-0 America East) and are coming off a three game sweep at the Albany Great Danes over the weekend. Binghamton is led offensively by Paul Rufo who is batting .347, with 33 hits, 19 RBI and a .505 slugging percentage. In 15 of the team 23 games, Luke Tevlin is hitting .348 on the year.
On the mound, Ben Anderson will get the start and is 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA. In six appearances, all in relief, he has thrown nine innings, giving up six runs on seven hits with five walks, four strikeouts and a .212 opponent batting average against.

Following the game at Binghamton, the Red Foxes return to McCann Field for a non-conference doubleheader against the Albany Great Danes on Saturday at 12 PM. The two teams will then play a single game at Albany on Sunday at 12 PM.
