POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist water polo team wraps up the 2017 regular season on Saturday as the Red Foxes travel to Iona College in New Rochelle, New York on Saturday for their final two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season games vs the VMI Keydets (10:30 AM) and the St Francis Brooklyn Terriers (5:30 PM).

Marist currently stands at 18-2 (10-2 MAAC).

National Rankings

The Red Foxes are ranked for the 12th consecutive week in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association Women’s Varsity Week 13 Poll at #-T23. Marist has been ranked as high as #23 and as low as #24.

Last Time Out

The Red Foxes are coming off three MAAC victories over Iona (17-12) and St. Francis Brooklyn (13-4) on Saturday and a 20-3 victory over La Salle on Sunday. Freshman Anais Mathes had a career game vs La Salle, finishing with a career high three goals, one assist, one kickout drawn and one steal. Freshman Carolyn Gauvin had a career game against St. Francis, scoring a career high four goals to go along with one steal.

Scouting VMI

The Keydets come into the game with a 20-6 (9-3 MAAC) record and are coming off a 13-10 OT loss to #17 Wagner College on Sunday. Shelby Barkley leads VMI with 76 goals and 48 steals on the season, while Bailey Huddleston leads the Keydets with 50 assists.

Scouting St. Francis

The Terriers are 3-21 (2-11 MAAC) and are coming off a 10-4 loss to #17 Wagner College on Wednesday.

Marist will have a two week break before the team competes in the 2017 MAAC Championship held at McCann Natatorium in Poughkeepsie. The #18 Wagner College Seahawks have clinched the #1 seed, while the #-T23 Red Foxes, VMI Keydets and Iona College Gaels have all clinched appearances in the tournament but seeding has yet to be determined. The Seahawks will play the #4 seed in semi-final #1 at 12 PM on Saturday, April 29th with the #2 and #3 seeds playing in semi-final #2 at 2 PM. The losers of the semi-final matchups will then play in the consolation game on Sunday, April 30th at 12 PM with the two winners squaring off in the championship game at 2 PM.
