POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men’s lacrosse team (6-5, 1-2 MAAC) will face off against the Manhattan Jaspers (2-9, 0-4 MAAC) on Saturday, April 15.
Last Time Out
In a rematch of the last two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship games, the Red Foxes crept past Quinnipiac, 9-8, on April 8. Neither side led by more than three goals and the final Bobcats’ shot of the night went wide of the net to give Marist its first conference win of the year.
Players To Watch
Freshman Joe Tierney netted his first career hat trick against the Bobcats and two of his goals gave the Red Foxes the lead. He has notched a point in his first 11 collegiate contests and he earned MAAC Rookie of the Week on April 10.
With 124 career assists, Recor is five shy of tying the MAAC all-time record set by Manhattan’s Eugene Tanner in 2005. He has the most assists among active players in Division I men’s lacrosse and was named one of 10 finalists nationwide for the Senior CLASS Award on April 13.
Scouting The Jaspers
Manhattan has lost its last seven games and its two wins this season have come in overtime.
With 6.40 ground balls per game, junior Joseph Bressingham is 16th in the country and first in the conference. He won 10 faceoffs in Manhattan’s last game at Siena on April 8.
Sophomore Parker Giarratana leads the Jaspers with 26 goals and 34 points. Six of his goals have come on man up opportunities. In between the pipes junior Michael Zingaro is averaging 12.82 saves per game for best in the MAAC.
