POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team (21-14 overall, 3-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) returns to conference play on Saturday, when the Red Foxes head to Quinnipiac (16-18, 3-3). First pitch of game one is set for noon.

Road Trip

The Red Foxes are in the midst of a stretch of 10 straight games away from Gartland Field. After playing their first six conference games at home, Marist will also play 10 consecutive conference games on the road.

Conference Play

To this point, Marist has split conference series against Siena, Fairfield, and Iona. These teams have a combined record of 14-6 in MAAC play, and the Red Foxes have outscored their foes by a 24-11 margin. Quinnipiac has swept Rider, split with Saint Peter’s, and has been swept by Monmouth in conference action. The Bobcats have allowed just nine runs in six conference games.

2016 Recap

Last season, Marist posted a 3-0 record against Quinnipiac. The Red Foxes swept a doubleheader against the Bobcats by scores of 8-0 and 4-1 on April 17, and then earned a 2-0 triumph in the MAAC Championship winner’s bracket final on May 13. Senior Jayne Oberdorf pitched a no-hitter in the 8-0 triumph on April 17, and then struck out a career-high 13 in a two-hitter in the MAAC Championship.
