POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist water polo team travels to Brooklyn, NY this Saturday, April 8 for two games. The Red Foxes are set to face Iona at 9 AM and St. Francis 5:30 PM. The Red Foxes will continue this weekend’s road play Sunday, April 9 in Staten Island. The Red Foxes will face La Salle at 4 PM.
Marist is remains ranked #24 in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association Women’s Varsity Week 12 Poll. The Red Foxes have been ranked for 11consecutive weeks and have been ranked as high as #23.
Last Time Out
Marist is coming off two MAAC victories over Siena (15-7, 14-4). The victories advance the Red Foxes to a 15-12 overall record (7-2 MAAC). In the second game, senior co-captain Amanda Amorosa tallied her 274th career goal, becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer. Totaling 29 goals on the day, the victories were a team effort with nine players finding the net. Amorosa led the day with seven goals, three assists and three steals. Senior Nastassia McGlothlin followed close behind with four goals, five assists and three steals. In net, sophomore Hope Vickers finished the day with no goals against and three saves.
Iona is coming off a 15-7 win over St. Francis. The win gives the Gaels 5-4 record in MAAC play. Junior Hannah Schultz tallied seven goals on eight shots while junior Kayla Allen etched three. Junior goalies Britten Vilander picked up her eighth win on the season with seven saves, six steals and two assists.
Scouting St. Francis
St. Francis is coming off a 15-7 loss to Iona. The team currently stands at 1-7 in MAAC play. Goaltender Ashley Harp is ranked ninth in the MAAC for save (64).
Scouting La Salle
La Salle is coming off a 21-4 non-conference win over Penn. Freshman Katelynn Kubo led the Explorers with five goals while freshman Stephanie Morales tallied four of her own and four assists.
The Red Foxes finish regular season play on Saturday, April 15 in New Rochelle, NY. Marist will square off against VMI at 10:30 AM and St. Francis at 5:30 PM.
