POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women’s basketball team will continue with Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play Thursday night against the Rider Broncos. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.


Following a career-high 24 points for Claire Oberdorf and a fourteen point comeback, the Marist Women’s Basketball team came home with a 60-58 win over the Niagara Purple Eagles on Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. With the win the Red Foxes improve to 4-2 in MAAC play and 7-9 overall. Along with Oberdorf, Hannah Hand contributed to the win with 13 points.


The Red Foxes hold a 41-14 advantage in the all-time series. Marist won both meetings between the teams last season. The Red Foxes outscored the Broncos 74-56 on the road and 66-54 at home. In their last game, Rider scored 9 points in the final 28 seconds to edge Siena, 62-61. Rider is currently 4-0 in road conference matchups.  Freshman Stella Johnson currently leads the MAAC in field goal percentage (.564), while Junior Kamila Hoskova leads the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (.447).


The Marist women’s basketball team defeated the Rider Broncos, 74-56, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup at the Alumni Gym. Sydney Coffey led the Red Foxes in scoring, finishing with 19 points in just 21 minutes of play. Tori Jarosz secured her NCAA leading 17th double-double of the season putting up 13 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in just 19 minutes of play. Allie Clement was the Red Foxes third player in double digits, scoring 11 points.


The Red Foxes will head into Thursday’s game with following a career high performance from Claire Oberdorf. Five time MAAC Rookie of the Week winner Rebekah Hand also led the team with 10 rebounds and notched 8 points during the team’s last contest against the Purple Eagles.  She is currently ranked 7th in the MAAC for scoring.  The Red Foxes currently have 5 players averaging double digits, four of which are active; Rebekah Hand (14.3), Maura Fitzpatrick (12.8), Claire Oberdorf (10.4) and Hannah Hand (10.1).


Jan. 12, 2012 - BRIDGEPORT, CONN. – Corielle Yarde (Reading, Pa.) scored a game-high 24 points and the Marist women's basketball team used a 10-2 run late in the first half to remain perfect in the league and hand Fairfield their first loss in conference play 59-47 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) game.
