POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Marist women’s tennis interim head coach Jason Sacher announced that juniors Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii), Katie Seitz (Pennington, N.J.) and senior Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.) have been named captains for the 2014-15 season. Tahir will be serving her second season as captain for the Red Foxes.
“Throughout my time at Marist, Katie Seitz and Karly Pang have displayed a profound level of consistency and commitment to excellence,” said Sacher. “They are a pair of individuals who personify the meaning of character to its highest degree. Like all great leaders, they are more concerned about the welfare of the collective as opposed to themselves. I am confident their leadership alongside with current captain, Sabrina Tahir, will further benefit the culture and success of the team going forward.”
Pang finished the 2013-14 season 11-5 overall at singles, playing at the number one spot. She also notched a 5-2 MAAC record. Pang posted a 4-9 doubles record, splitting time with sophomore Callie Morlock (Golden, Colo.) and fellow captain, Tahir.
Seitz notched a 4-5 mark in singles play this season with a 3-1 MAAC performance. She also posted a 6-6 record in doubles play, primarily with graduated Red Fox, Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.).
Tahir, a member of the 2013-14 MAAC All-Academic team, will be serving her second season as captain. She recorded a 3-5 singles record this season with a 3-1 MAAC mark. Tahir finished 3-3 in doubles action, recording all three wins with Pang.
In his first season at the helm in 2013-14, Sacher led the Red Foxes to a 6-10 overall record with a 5-3 mark in the MAAC. Marist earned the fourth seed for the MAAC Tournament.
