POUGHKEEPSIE – Senior left-handed pitcher Jordan Eich (Spencerport, N.Y.) of the Marist baseball team has been named Corvias ECAC Pitcher of the Week.
Eich pitched seven shutout innings in Marist's 9-2 Senior Day triumph over Saint Peter's on May 11. He struck out seven, and allowed just three Peacocks to reach base via two hits and one walk. Saint Peter’s did not advance anyone to third base in his outing.
Eich retired the final seven Peacocks he faced, and also retired eight straight batters between the second and fifth innings. He retired the side in order in five of his seven innings, and threw just 94 pitches.
This is the second award Eich has won this week, as he was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
On the season, Eich leads the Marist pitching staff in ERA (3.70), starts (12), innings pitched (73) and strikeouts (45).
Marist (16-30 overall, 9-12 MAAC) controls its own destiny for a spot in next week’s MAAC Baseball Championships heading into the final week of regular-season play. The Red Foxes have a three-game series at Fairfield set for Friday and Saturday, and two Marist wins will clinch a postseason berth.
