CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Senior Alyssa Zahka (Lexington, Mass.) was named the Corvias ECAC Division I Metro-Upstate Softball Player of the Week.

Zahka led Marist in its six-game stint this past week. With a .400 batting average for the week, she notched three doubles and two homers to claim 10 RBIs and a 1.000 slug percentage for the Red Foxes. Defensively, she added 25 putouts and two assists with no errors on the week. With the bases loaded, Zahka doubled to left center to score two in the Red Foxes’ 6-5 win over Siena. Marist went on to take the lead in the top of the fifth off of a two-run homer from Zahka. In the victory, Zahka posted four of the Red Foxes’ six RBIs. She added another homer for the week, as she added a two-run shot to left center in Marist’s 5-0 win over Canisius. Zahka kept the hits coming in the nightcap, as she opened the scoring for Marist with a two-run RBI double. As the Red Foxes closed out their season with two wins over Saint Peter’s, Zahka continued her hot streak with yet another RBI double to kick off the first game.

Marist will head into the MAAC Championship Tournament this week as the first seed. The Red Foxes open tournament play at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, either playing Siena or Monmouth, which will be determined in game two of the tournament on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
