LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Junior Danielle Asaro (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) broke a 17-year-old school record in the 100-meter dash, and junior Michelle Gaye (Greenlawn, N.Y.) medaled in the 5,000-meter run to pace Marist on the second day of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday at Rider University.
Asaro ran a time of 12.48 seconds, breaking the school record of 12.59 seconds that was set by Dominique Pino in 1997. She finished fifth in the event, and was also part of the 4 X 100-meter relay that placed fifth.
Gaye finished third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:44.22. She turned in Marist’s highest individual placement in the two-day meet.
As a team, Marist placed seventh out of nine teams with 31 points.
