POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist women’s tennis team defeated Monmouth in its final regular season match, 6-1. The Red Foxes earned the final spot in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament, held April 26 and 27 in West Windsor, N.J.

Sophomore Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) kicked off singles play on a positive note with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Brooke Verdiglione. Freshman Callie Morlock (Golden, Colo.) fell to Ashley Sandler, 6-3, 6-4. Senior Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) cruised by Farrah Smoke, 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Lisa Ventimiglia (Bayside, N.Y.) earned a 6-0, 6-3 win over Chioma Gabriel, 6-0, 5-2. Sophomore Nikki Rohan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) sailed by Sarah Turner, 6-0, 6-2. Sophomore Katie Seitz (Pennington, N.Y.) rounded out the near sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Erica Larson.

Marist picked up the doubles point against the Hawks with two victories. Freshman Callie Morlock (Golden, Colo.) and Pang fell to Verdigilone and Smoke in first doubles, 8-4. Sophomore Kaye Eastman (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and sophomore Melissa Carlay (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) downed Sandler and Gabriel, 8-6. Seitz and Campbell earned the point with an 8-2 rout of Turner and Kendal Kauffman.

Marist will participate in the MAAC Tournament, beginning Saturday, April 26 in West Windsor, N.J.
