JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Marist women’s tennis team picked up a nice win heading into Easter weekend as the Red Foxes got the best of Saint Peter’s, 7-0 on Thursday afternoon.

“Today was a good team win, we are pleased to have the win heading into Easter weekend. We are looking forward to our next match on Monday against Monmouth” head coach Jason Sacher said.

Karly Pang got Marist off to a strong start with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Adina Ungurean-Halagian. Freshman Callie Morlock then got the best of Ivana Grbelja in a 6-3, 6-4 decision.

Marielle Campbell was another winner for the Red Foxes, notching an impressive 6-0, 6-2 win against the Peacocks’ Elena Melian Puigventos. Marist’s Lisa Ventimiglia defeated Lucia Radovic, 6-4, 6-2.

Nikki Rohan closed out the singles matches with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Saint Peter’s Vanessa Vogel. Katie Seitz was declared a winner by default for the Red Foxes.

In doubles action, the duo of Pang and Morlock handled the Peacocks’ tandem of Ungurean-Halagian and Radovic, 8-2. Sophomores Melissa Carlay and Kaye Eastman picked up another win doubles win for Marist in an 8-1 decision over Grbelja and Vogel.

Campbell and Seitz were default winners in the third and final doubles match for the Red Foxes.

Marist will next be in action on Monday afternoon when they will host Monmouth at 1:30 p.m. in their final regular season game.
