POUGHKEEPSIE – Senior forward Jay Bowie (Tampa, Fla.) of the Marist men’s basketball team has been selected to play in the inaugural Gotham Hoops Invitational. The event will be held on Sunday, April 13 at Farmingdale State College, and will serve as a showcase for the region’s top collegiate men’s basketball seniors.

A total of four teams, which consist of 10 players apiece, will participate in the event. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., followed by games at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for the general public, and $5 for students.

In 2013-14, Bowie enjoyed the best season of his collegiate career. He averaged career highs in scoring (12.1 points per game) and rebounding (5.2 per game) while leading the team with 66 three-pointers, a three-point percentage of .434 and a free-throw percentage of .812.

A two-time selection to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, Bowie finished his career as one of just two players in program history to shoot over 40 percent from three-point range (minimum 50 made) and over 80 percent from the free-throw line (minimum 75 made). The other is Andy Lake, who played at Marist from 1988-93 and is 10th in program history with 1,313 career points.
