POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's tennis team fell to Fairfield in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) matchup on Tuesday afternoon, 5-2. Senior Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) and sophomore Nikki Rohan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) were lone singles winners for the Red Foxes in fourth and sixth singles, respectively.
Campbell cruised by Carolina Koladzyn in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. Rohan defeated Victoria Pirrello 6-2, 6-2.
Sophomore Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) fell to Monica Yajima in first singles, 6-3, 6-2. Junior Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.) was edged by Sharissa Ryan 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Callie Morlock (Golden, Colo.) was defeated by Allison Radde in third singles, 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Lisa Ventimiglia (Bayside, N.Y.) dropped a close 6-4, 6-4 contest to Kaila Nelson in fifth singles.
The Stags swept doubles action against the Red Foxes. The duo of Tahir and Pang fell to Yajima and Koladzyn, 8-3. Morlock and sophomore Melissa Carlay (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) were topped by Ryan and McKeough, 8-1. In the final doubles match, sophomore Katie Seitz (Pennington, N.J.) and Campbell lost a hard fought 8-6 match to Radde and Nelson.
Marist continues MAAC play on Thursday, Apr. 3 at Siena. The match is scheduled to begin at 8:45 p.m.
