Water Polo Downs Wagner in MAAC Matchup

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist water polo claimed another Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) win today, as the Red Foxes defeated Wagner 13-12.

Junior Jessica Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) opened the scoring for Marist, as the first quarter ended in a 3-3 tie. Wagner went on to take the lead, but Marist came back from a three-goal deficit to claim a score of 7-6 to end the second quarter. Wagner opened the next quarter to tie the game at seven before reclaiming the lead. Freshman Amanda Amorosa (Montreal, QC) tied it up, while sophomore Brooke Else (Lansdale, Pa.) notched a goal for the Red Foxes to post the last lead change. In the fourth quarter, the Seahawks tied the game at 12 before Jessica Hamby posted the game-winning goal to seal the victory for Marist.

Jessica Hamby led the Red Foxes with six goals in the outing, while junior Alison Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) added five assists. Junior Anna-Lena Hathaway (South Pasadena, Calif.) compiled four steals as Amorosa had three field blocks. Rookie Jocelyn McQuade (Vancouver, BC) also had a big day for Marist, tacking on two goals to the scoreboard.

The Red Foxes move on to face off against Iona at 12 p.m. next Saturday before taking on Siena at 4 p.m.
