Water Polo Travels to Philadelphia for Two MAAC Matchups
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Marist water polo team heads to the city of brotherly love on Saturday to face off against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rivals Villanova and St. Francis.
Last weekend, the Red Foxes won four of their five games at the Arizona State University Tournament. The team currently post an 8-13 overall record, with one win in the conference thus far in the season.
Marist is led by junior Jessica Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) with 42 goals this season, as well as 11 field blocks and 49 ejections drawn. Rookie Amanda Amorosa (Montreal, QC) has helped the team in many ways, as she has compiled 38 goals, 25 assists, 25 steals and seven field blocks. Also for Marist, junior Allison Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) has posted 32 assists, while senior Yuriria Chavez claims 28 of the Red Foxes’ steals. In net, sophomore Skyler Henry (San Diego, Calif.) has made 138 saves, claiming a .407 save percentage and 9.57 goals against average.
Up next for Marist:
Villanova: The Bobcats post a 4-12 overall record, while going 0-1 in the conference this season. In their last outing, the team beat Chapman University 7-5.
St. Francis: The Terriers are 3-6 overall. Along with Marist, St. Francis will face off against Iona this weekend as well. In the team’s last outing, the Terries fell 2-10 against Azusa Pacific.
The Red Foxes will kick off Saturday’s games at 9 a.m. against Villanova before facing off against St. Francis at 2:30 p.m.
