ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Marist water polo team dropped a 13-9 loss to Brown today, as junior Jessica Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) led the Red Foxes with five goals.
Hamby now leads Marist with 26 goals so far in the season. She also compiled one steal and drew four ejections in the outing.
Also for the Red Foxes, freshman Amanda Amorosa (Montreal, QC) posted two goals, while junior Anna-Lena Hathaway (South Pasadena, Calif.) and sophomore Brooke Else (Lansdale, Pa.) each tallied a goal as well. Senior Kathryn Knutson (Oakland, Calif.) and junior Allison Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) posted two assists each, while freshman Nastassia McGlothlin (Mission Viejo, Calif.) had four steals. Sophomore goalie Skyler Henry (San Diego, Calif.) claimed five saves in the loss.
The Red Foxes jumped out to a first quarter lead (4-3), before Brown answered with four goals in the second quarter. Marist would bring it within three in the third quarter, but that would be as close as the team would get.
Marist capitalized on three six-on-five opportunities, while defending three of nine shorthanded opportunities.
The Red Foxes are set to play in an exhibition game against Hartwick today at 4 p.m.
