POUGHKEEPSIE -- The Marist men's basketball team (10-15 overall, 7-8 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) will travel to Monmouth (10-16, 4-11) for a Sunday afternoon contest. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
In its last outing on Friday, down five with 21 seconds left, Marist came back to defeat Siena 65-64. Junior swingman Chavaughn Lewis had a layup with 6.8 second to play to cut the Red Foxes' deficit to two, Then, senior forward Jay Bowie stole the ensuing inbounds pass and drained a three-pointer from the left corner with 3.7 second to play to put Marist up for good. The sequence earned the #7 spot on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays.
Red-shirt freshman guard Khallid Hart led Marist with 16 points, and senior center Adam Kemp had his fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 15 rebounds - the highest single-game total by any Red Fox this season.
Marist defeated Monmouth 75-73 on Jan. 30 in the first meeting between the teams this season. The Hawks enter Sunday's contest having lost six straight. Monmouth is led in scoring (14.9 per game) and rebounding (6.9 per game) by junior guard Deon Jones.
