POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist women’s basketball team (19-6, 13-2 MAAC) hosts Quinnipiac (15-9, 10-4 MAAC) on its annual Play 4Kay night. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14. Friday night is a doubleheader for the Red Foxes as the Marist men’s basketball team hosts Siena later that same night at 8 p.m. in a separately-ticketed event. Proceeds of the 50/50 raffle will benefit the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation. At halftime of the women’s game, breast cancer survivors will be honored for their fight against this awful disease.
Friday’s game will be aired live on ESPNU. Fans can also listen to the game with Geoff Brault on the Red Fox Network, WKIP 1450 AM, and iHeart Radio.
Last time out, Marist rebounded from a loss to Fairfield to defeat Saint Peter’s, 64-49. Redshirt junior Tori Jarosz (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) led Marist with a career and game-high 20 points. Senior Casey Dulin (Milford, Conn.) was the only other Red Fox in double-digits with 10 points and four boards. Senior Emma O'Connor (Lynbrook, N.Y.) scored eight points and led Marist with three steals. Sophomore Madeline Blais (Exeter, N.H.) contributed an additional seven points and senior Leanne Ockenden (Syracuse, N.Y.) had four rebounds.
Marist is on a one-game winning streak following its loss to Fairfield on Feb. 8. Quinnipiac is on a three-game winning streak. Its last loss was also to Fairfield. The series between Marist and Quinnipiac is tied at 1-1. Quinnipiac was previously a member of the NEC and the teams played once in 1985. The Red Foxes and Bobcats met earlier this season in the first MAAC game of the year. Marist won, 69-63. Quinnipiac is 15-9 overall and 10-4 in MAAC play, tying Fairfield in third place.
Following this matchup, the Red Foxes hit the road for a two-game slate, beginning on Friday, Feb. 21 at Rider. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in Lawrenceville, N.J.
