NEW YORK, N.Y.  – The Marist College men’s distance medley relay team placed second overall at the Metropolitan Championships on Friday afternoon, earning an IC4A qualifying mark in the process and leading the team’s performance at the Armory Track and Field Center.

The team of junior captain David Marthy, freshman Matt Edwards, freshman Kyle Heubner and senior captain Nick Salek finished a few strides behind FDU in the runner-up position in a time of 10:13.83, exceeding the IC4A standard of 10:19.00. Marthy led off the relay with a 1,200-meter leg of 3:03.9. Edwards split 50.2 seconds for 400 meters. Heubner ran 1:59.4 for 800 meters, and Salek anchored with a 1,600-meter leg of 4:19.9.

Also for Marist, senior captain Billy Posch was the top individual finisher, placing sixth in the 3,000-meter run in 8:46.26. Freshmen Saad Baig (8:56.26) and Stefan Morton (9:07.44) ran personal-best times in the event.

The Red Foxes return to action next Saturday at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University.
