POUGHKEEPSIE -- The Marist men's basketball team (6-14 overall, 3-7 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) will face Monmouth (10-11, 4-6) for the first time in 17 years on Thursday night at McCann Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
This will be the 55th all-time meeting between the Red Foxes and Hawks all-time, with Monmouth leading the series 35-19. It is the first since Monmouth joined the MAAC for the 2013-14 season. The schools were formerly rivals in the Northeast Conference, and last met in the 1996-97 season.
Marist is hoping to reverse its fortunes after having lost at Niagara and at Canisius this past weekend. The Red Foxes are 5-3 at home this season, including 3-2 in conference games.
Monmouth suffered a 77-71 overtime loss at Rider in its last outing on Sunday, which snapped a two-game winning streak.
Ed Weir (play-by-play) and Steve Eggink (color) will have the call on WKIP 1450 AM, the Red Fox Network and iHeartRadio starting at 6:45. A video stream will be available for a subscription fee through the Red Fox Network. For live game updates, follow the official Twitter account of Marist Athletics, @MaristAthletics.
Following Thursday's game, Marist returns to action against Niagara on Saturday at 7 p.m. The game will be carried by ESPN3, and will also be Marist Men's Basketball Alumni Day. An alumni game will take place at 2 p.m.
