Women's Basketball Hosts Rider On Friends Of Jaclyn Night
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's basketball team (15-5, 9-1 MAAC) hosts Rider (9-10, 5-5 MAAC) in its final game of its home stand on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at McCann Arena. Wednesday’s game is Friends of Jaclyn night. Proceeds of the 50/50 raffle will benefit the foundation. Friend of Jaclyn will also be selling t-shirts at the door for $15.

Head coach Brian Giorgis will continue his dedication to helping fight hunger in the Hudson River Valley with a donation of a dime for each fan in attendance at home games throughout the season to hunger awareness. Kentucky head coach Matthew Mitchell and his wife will be matching Giorgis’ donation from the entire season.
Last time out, Marist defeated Niagara, 61-52, improving to 9-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play. It was the first time five Red Foxes scored in double figures. Sophomore Sydney Coffey (Hopkins, Minn.) and senior Casey Dulin (Milford, Conn.) posted 13 points apiece. Dulin had a career-high 10 assists and two steals. Senior Leanne Ockenden (Syracuse, N.Y.) recorded 10 points and seven rebounds. Redshirt junior Tori Jarosz (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) had 10 points and grabbed five boards for Marist.
Marist has won the last 20 meetings against Rider, dating back to Feb. 2003. Giorgis is 21-1 in his career against the Broncs. Rider is coming off a narrow 73-70 defeat over Siena, improving to 5-5 in the MAAC, 9-10 overall. MyNeshia McKenzie led the Broncs with 24 points and nine rebounds. Mikal Johnson posted 14 points, six rebounds, and a team-high three steals. Julia Duggan posted seven rebounds. As a team, Rider is shooting 32.7 percent from the field, 29.3 percent from three-point range, and just 69.9 percent from the line. McKenzie leads the Broncs in scoring and rebounding, averaging 19.7 points per game and 10.8 rebounds. Head coach Lynn Milligan is in her 7th season with Rider. Last season the team finished with 15 wins overall; the highest win total in the program since the 1994-95 season and the most under Milligan. The 15 wins were the fifth most in the 74 year history of the program. Rider currently stands 5th in the MAAC and has a .474 win percentage (9-10 overall record)
As of Jan. 27, sophomore Madeline Blais (Exeter, N.H.) ranks second in the NCAA in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 51.3% from beyond the arc. Senior Emma O'Connor (Lynbrook, N.Y.) ranks 24th in field-goal percentage, shooting 56.4% from the floor. Ockenden is just 22 points shy of reaching 1,000 career points.
Following this matchup, the Red Foxes return to the road to face MAAC newcomer, Monmouth, on Saturday, Feb. 1. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
