NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Marist women’s swimming and diving team overtook Southern Connecticut 189-101 on Saturday.
Junior Kimberly Tobias (San Jose, Calif.) was a double-winner for the day, claiming a score of 269.2 in the three-meter dive. For the one-meter dive, Tobias took a score of 279.45, claiming a personal best high score for her career.
Also for the diving team, senior Lauren Weiner (Feeding Hills, Mass.) placed second in the one-meter dive, qualifying for the ECAC Championships. Sophomore Renata Diotalevi (Madison, Conn.) took third in the one-meter and second place in the three-meter dive.
Marist claimed the top two spots in the 100 yard medley relay. The first place relay, comprised of freshman Colleen Lampe (East Setauket, NY.), freshman Isabella Morreale (Short Hills, NJ.), senior Emily Miles (Long Valley, N.J.), and senior Maddie Arciello (Missoula, Mont.), placed with a time of 1:53.49.
Also for the Red Foxes, sophomore Bethany Powhida (Delmar, N.Y.) claimed first place in the 1000 yard freestyle, while Lampe and freshman Kate Mosca (Dansville, NY.) took second and third place, respectively.
Also helping Marist in the win, senior Sarah Wagner (Rockaway, N.J.) placed first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.10, while Morreale took first in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.39).
In the 200 yard butterfly, the Red Foxes placed first (Mosca, 2:12.66) and third (Lampe). Also for Marist, senior Bonnie Orr (Fresno, Calif.) took second place in the 50 yard freestyle (26.19), while Alexandria Koukos (Cheshire, Conn.) followed directly behind in third place.
Freshman Meredith Wurtz (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) placed first in the 100 yard free with a time of 54.60, while sophomore Bridget Curley (Endwell, N.Y.) and Miles followed behind in second and third place, respectively.
Wagner claimed first place in the 200 yard back (2:16.61), while freshman Breanne Lydon (Dix Hills, NY.) placed second. Also for the Red Foxes, Morreale took first place in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:32.80), with freshman Taylor Deubel (Cheshire, CT) came in second.
Marist claimed the top three spots in the 100 yard fly, with Miles taking first place (1:01.70), and Orr and Powhida placing second and third, respectively.
Marist competed in exposition events in the last three events: the one- meter dive, 400-meter individual medley and the 200 yard freestyle relay.
The Red Foxes will host Boston College next Weekend at McCann Natatorium. The meet is set to kick off at 1 p.m.
