POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Red-shirt freshman guard Khallid Hart (Newark, Del.) of the Marist men’s basketball team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for a conference-leading third time this season on Monday.

Hart has been named MAAC Rookie of the Week each of the last three weeks Marist has had games. He was previously honored on Dec. 16 and Dec. 23. The Red Foxes did not play the week of Dec. 30.

Hart was the game’s high scorer with 15 points in Marist’s 75-56 win over Fairfield on Jan. 2. He added four rebounds, three assists (against just one turnover) and three steals. Hart shot an efficient 4-for-7 from the field, 1-for-2 from three-point range and 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. His efforts were key to Marist's 13-0 run over the first 8:30 of the game, as he contributed seven points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in this time.

On the season, Hart is second on the team in scoring (11.7 points per game) and tied for first in steals (1.5 per game). He is one of three Red Foxes to start all 13 of the team’s games this season. Hart has led Marist in scoring in each of the last two games, and has scored in double figures in six of the Red Foxes’ last seven games.

Marist will be aiming for its fifth straight victory Monday night, when the Red Foxes host Canisius. Tip-off at McCann Arena is set for 7 p.m. The contest will close out a four-game homestand for the Red Foxes.
