Maristís Hart Honored By MAAC For Second Straight Week
EDISON, N.J. – Red-shirt freshman guard Khallid Hart (Newark, Del.) of the Marist men’s basketball team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week on Monday for the second straight week.
Hart averaged 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals as the Red Foxes recorded home victories over Bucknell and Penn this past week. He shot .579 (11-for-19) from the field, .500 (2-for-4) from three-point range and 1.000 (6-for-6) from the free-throw line.
Against Bucknell on Dec. 20, Hart had nine points and three steals. Against Penn on Dec. 22, he tied his career high with 21 points on the strength of 8-for-11 shooting from the field, 2-for-3 from three-point range and 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. He added four rebounds, two assists and a steal.
This season, Hart is second on the team in both scoring (11.4 points per game) and steals (1.3 per game). He is one of three Red Foxes to start all 12 of the team’s games so far this season.
Marist, which has won three straight games, returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 2. The Red Foxes continue their four-game homestand as they return to conference play against Fairfield.
