Marist Men's Basketball Starts Homestand vs. Bucknell
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Marist men's basketball team will open a stretch of four consecutive games at McCann Arena on Friday night, when the Red Foxes host Patriot League foe Bucknell. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
Marist (1-9) is coming off its first win of the season on Sunday, Dec. 15, a 69-62 triumph at Colonial Athletic Association foe College of Charleston. Junior swingman Chavaughn Lewis led the way with 18 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. Red-shirt freshman guard Khallid Hart added 16 points, and his performance earned him the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honor a day later. Junior guard T.J. Curry and senior center Adam Kemp each scored 12 to give the Red Foxes four double-digit scorers.
Bucknell (5-4) is playing its first game since Dec. 7. The Bison, who were picked fourth in this year's Patriot League preseason poll, have advanced to postseason play each of the last three years, and are the defending Patriot League champions. Bucknell is an efficient offensive team which shoots .470 from the field, .434 from three-point range and .790 from the free-throw line while averaging under 10 turnovers per game. Senior guard Cameron Ayers averages a team-high 14.2 points per game.
Bucknell leads the all-time series 5-3, having won the last three meetings.
Marist will be hosting CYO Night on Friday. Children who wear their CYO jersey get in free with a paid adult ticket.
